KENT A. KELLEY

KENT A. KELLEY

Class of 1964

Eddy E., Dickey B., Freddy G and me were close friends growing up. I remember the old brick Eiementry School attached to the brick Senior High School across the street from the police and voluntary Fire Station.Mrs. Edelman helped us through the 5th and 6th grades. In the middle of our senior year, only Mr Boilson was aware that my family was crumbling. I had to leave school to tend to my two younger brothers and my little
sister. Some of my classmates labeled me a dropout and a looser.
Hear is the funny part. Once I was sure my siblings were OK, I joined the Navy; volunteered for Special Forces. I received my training at Coronado Amphibious Base and Camp Pendlelton and ITR on Okinawa. I was deployed to Vietnam for 3 yrs. I was critically wounded in 1965. I chose to return to my Unit and refused to be medically discharged. I passed the GED test and sent the results to Mr, Boilson. He sent me a real Bellevue Senior High School Diploma. That diploma paved the way to graduate college. I went on to become the CEO of three Medical Corporation. That's not bad for a dropout and a looser. See my bio if you want more.
