Graduation Year Class of 1984
Date of Passing Jan 01, 2012
About Carrie passed away on May 8, 2012, after a short, unexpected illness. She was surrounded by family and friends when she was set free.

Carrie was born Sept. 6, 1966, in Lewistown, Mont., to Birdie and George Chapin. As a young child, the family moved to Billings, where she graduated from Billings West High School in 1984. She continued her education at the College of Coiffure Art where she was pursuing her long standing passion for cosmetology. She graduated from the College in 1985. Carrie then worked faithfully at Cost Cutters for nearly 20 years, where she created lasting relationships with many friends and colleagues. Her experience in the industry led her to become an instructor at the Academy of Nail, Skin, and Hair in 2005. Over the course of the next 5 years, Carrie shared her knowledge with hundreds of students who came through the doors of the Academy. In 2010, she and her husband opened their own school, The Nail Institute, in Billings where she continued to make an impact among both students and instructors alike.

On Sept. 17, 1988, Carrie married her high school sweetheart, Kenneth Dorris, and together they enjoyed mutual interests and making many memories, including raising their three children: Caitlin, Keith and Christine. Carrie was an avid reader, coffee drinker and the busiest person you will ever meet. Within her family, Carrie was always the memory maker. Her laugh was contagious and you never knew what she might say next, but what you could always count on was a love for both her family and her pets. As a family, they enjoyed camping, road trips, family holidays, and spending time together around the dinner table. Carrie looked forward to the upcoming wedding of her oldest daughter Caitlin; becoming a grandmother to the child of her daughter Christine; and watching her son, Keith, graduate from the University of Montana. Carrie was constantly surrounded by people who love her, and she will be missed by many.

Carrie is survived by her husband, Kenneth Dorris; children, Caitlin Dorris, Keith Dorris, Christine Dorris; mother, Birdie Chapin; brother, Mitch (Pam) Chapin; niece, Michaela Chapin; mother-in-law, April Dorris; her beloved pets; and many other family members and close, dear friends.
