About Obituary for Amy L. (Michael) Martin
Amy L. (Michael) Martin, 68, of Dunreith, passed away unexpectedly from injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Indianapolis on Tuesday, July 3, 2018.

She was born on May 18, 1950 in Indianapolis, Indiana, a daughter of Charles D. and Virginia (McCracken) Michael.

Amy grew up in the Carmel area and moved with her family to Kokomo when she was a teenager. She graduated from Kokomo High School in 1968 and then graduated from beauty school. For 28 years Amy owned and operated Aries Hair Design in Carmel and Dunreith Family Hair Station. She married the love of her life, Tim Martin, on August 4, 1978. Amy later earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Ball State University and became a special education teacher. Amy saw the good in everyone and had a heart for the underprivileged and needy.

She loved teaching at Alexandria, Wapahani, Rush County School Corporation at St. Mary’s, and the New Castle Alternative School. She enjoyed volunteering with Joni and Friends doing haircare for special needs children. Amy was a 22-year member of New Lisbon Christian Church. Amy was an avid reader, loved movies, enjoyed playing games on her phone and social media but, most of all, she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.

In addition to her mother, Virginia Michael, of New Castle, those left to cherish Amy’s memory include her husband of almost 40 years, Tim Martin; two sons, Michael (Kimberly) Martin of Beloit, Kansas and Andrew (Kasey) Martin of Muncie; five grandchildren, Leyton, Kaden, Lucas, Maddox, and Sawyer; a sister, Judy (Dennis) Roeder of Greenfield; three nieces, Jessica Roeder, Kessa Roeder McNaught, and Esther Michael; a nephew, Ethan Michael and two brothers-in-law, Kenneth Martin and David (Jeri) Martin.

She was preceded in death by her father, Charles D. Michael in 1991 and a brother, Paul G. Michael in 2005.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Monday, July 9, 2018 at the New Lisbon Christian Church with Pastor Mark Lomison officiating. Burial will follow in Dunreith Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 - 6 pm Sunday at Sproles Family Funeral Home.
