School & Community News

Sunday Nov. 15, 2009

Just want to give you a quick update about Sunday's activities.
The program for the Dedication for the Centennial Performing Arts Center will begin at 1:30 with school board members talking, some singing from the high school, ribbon cutting and some other things. The Alumni Showcase will start after this and that will probably be around 2:30.

We have several alumni that will be playing solos, singing and dancing. Will you please write a short bio of what you've been doing since you graduated from CHS, and if you are still using your talents in your present day life. This will be used to introduce you at the program. If you can get these to me before Sun. that would be greatly appreciated.
If you want to sing in the vocal group that will be singing the following songs: Friends, Christmas in a Small Town and possibly A Closing Prayer, please meet in the vocal room at 12:30 that day so we can quickly get ourselves all in tune. :) Don't worry--you get to use music.
If you haven't sung for a long time, don't worry--this will be so much fun and bring back so many memories for all involved. Even if you didn't sing in highschool, please consider joining us. The more the merrier. We're thinking this group will close the program.

Centennial has started the Back Pack Program this year ( food that is sent home on the weekends for families that need help) and they are having a soup dinner/desserts from 12-1:45 that day. So come enjoy soup, sing etc. and see h

Performing Artists are Needed

The dream has finally come true! Centennial now has that long-awaited auditorium so
many of us have dreamed about for years.

The dedication of the Centennial Performing Arts Center will be held November 15, 2009,
at 1:30 p.m. with the alumni showcase to follow. Individual alumni are encouraged to perform
during the showcase; we are looking for singers, dancers, instrumentalists, artists, and other
various talents. Hopefully we can gather enough alumni singers to perform some favorite songs. Instrumentalists may be able to incorporate some ensemble pieces with Mr. Hoback.

If you can join us in performing on a real stage in a state-of-the-art, wonderful, awesome
auditorium, please contact Sandi Swanson by November 1st.

E-mail: js64140@windstream.net,
Phone: 402 534-4791
Mail: 1400 E. St. Utica, NE 68456.

Instrumentalists may also contact Robert Hoback at 402-534-4391.

If you are unable to attend but would like to make a DVD that can be shown,
please mail the DVD to Sandi Swanson at the above address by November 1st.

Please pass the word.

Along with showcasing the talents of alumni, the new addition has provided space
to recognize Centennial graduates who have served or are serving in the armed forces.
This recognition will take two forms. One form will be a Wall of Honor in the north
hallway, west of the new Performing Arts Center. Each individual will be honored
with an 8 X 11 card that displays requested information and
