Sharon Coleen (“Cole”) Powers

Class of 1967

I graduated from Vanderbilt in 1980 (BSN) & 1983 (MSN).
After working 15 years as a Family Nurse Practitioner in Nashville, I’ve been teaching at Vanderbilt Univ School of Nursing the past 18 years - & rec’d a doctoral degree in nursing in 2013 from UAB. I was recently promoted to asst professor - & published an article in the Journal of Nursing Education.

In addition to traveling to 47 out of 50 states, I’ve visited 8 countries in Europe & India. I’ve piloted & tandom-jumped from small airplane (not the same plane! :-) I’ve walked on a volcano, canoed thru jungle & para-sailed over the ocean in Hawaii; led a dog-sled on a mountain in Alaska (dogs well cared for); hiked the Himalayas with a spiritual guru - & enjoyed/grateful for my life with my partner & dogs!
