About	From Gardnerville: Roger Currie Dennis, 67, died June 9, 2011, from acute myeloid leukemia. Mr. Dennis was born January 18, 1944, to Robert and Patricia Dennis in Orlando, Florida, where his father was a pilot with the Army Air Corps. he started collee at Oregon State University, then was accepted at the Air Force Academy. When he discovered that he was not pilot qualified, he returned to Oregon State where he majored in business administration and minored in computer languages. While in college, he worked summers for the U.S. Forest Service in Oregon and Washington. After he was graduated from OSU, he accepted a job in California, where he worked until he was recalled to active duty for the Pueblo crisis. When discharged, he returned to OSU to get his MBA. He was a consultant with Peat, Marwick & Mitchell. Rather than transfer to Southern California, he found employment in the wood products industry. After several years, he became a small business counselor with a franchise with Geneeral Business Services in Yakima, WA. He was elected to be a delegate to the first White House Conference for Small Business called by President Carter. His recommendation was the first one passed into law. He sold his franchise then moved to Alaska and then Southern California where he worked in the defense industry. He was "pirated" to a company in the San Jose area. He married Ruth Rouse on October 15, 1988 in Santa Cruz, California. The became actrive travelers and scuba divers even while working. They have over 60 journals of their trips that they have shared with family and friends. Mr. Dennis was a member of the National Rifle Association, California Rifle and Pistol Association, Clan Macpherson Association and the Nevada Society of Scottish Clans. He is survived by his wife; mother; daughter Leslie LaNier; brothers Craig (Becky) and Joel Dennis; sisters Adele (Tony) Boyles and Galen Fisher and six grandchildren.
