About Jeanette Gail Emigh Harvey was born April 22, 1944 in Walla Walla, WA to Bill and Audrey Emigh. She was preceded in death by her younger brother, Lloyd Emigh and older sister, Jo Ann Sheldon. Her mother Audrey, lives in Klamath Falls, OR and her sister Beverly Carpenter (CHS'57) lives in Fallbrook, CA. Jeanette moved to San Francisco in 1975 and married Gordon Harvey in 1976. They lived in Sausalito from 1976 to 1985. In 1985, they moved to Sonoma, CA, and have lived there with the exception of an hiatus in Arlington, Virginia from 1998-2006. From 1988-1992, Jeanette served with pride in Sonoma as the president of the board of directors of the Sonoma Valley Hospital. Starting in the late 70's, Jeanette worked in region IX of the Federal Government for the Rehabilitation Administration. After that, she was employed at Children's Hospital in San Francisco with Dr. Robert Miller working with severely disabled children. Jeanette then went to the University of San Francisco's McLaren Graduate School of Business where she developed and administered an MBA program in distance learning in Rehabilitation Services. The current director of the state of California Rehabilitation Services is a graduate of that program. The eight years in Washington DC included being the executive director of United Cerebral Palsy Association, followed by a stint as a consultant to an assistant secretary in the Social Security Administration finally spending her last year with the Small Business Administration developing programs for people with disabilities and small business. Jeanette became ill and retired from work and returned wither husband to Sonoma in 2006. Jeanette completed her undergraduate and graduate work at Portland State University and completed additional graduate work at the University of San Francisco. Jeanette used a wheelchair most of her life as a result of Charcot Marie Tooth. But that never slowed her down. It was merely an inconvenience. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the disability fund of your choice.
