About Bobbye DeVos Rankin died October 6, 2005 at her home in Central Point after a prolonged battle with cancer.
She was born on December 16, 1941 in Bemidji, Minnesota, the daughter of Alford L. Danielson and Luree M. (Herrmann) Danielson.
She is survived by her daughter, Laura L. DeVos-Penkala; and grandchildren, Amanda DeVos-Penkala and Coleman Penkala. Also surviving are her mother, Luree M. Danielson; two brothers, Robert D. Danielson and Robin B. Danielson; her lifelong friend and confidant; Robby Miller, her former husband, Jim DeVos as well as a large and loving family of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Bobbye moved with her parents to the Rogue Valley in 1946. She attended school in Central Point and graduated from Crater High School in 1959. She also attended Concordia College in Oakland, California for two years. In April 29, 1961 she married Jim DeVos in Medford. They were divorced in 1986. On June 8th, 1991 Bobbye married Richard Rankin, a captain of Fire District 3 who preceded her in death in May of 2004. Over the years she was employed at several businesses in the Rogue Valley including Harry & David and Providence Hospital. She retired after more than 20 years with Providence Hospital in April of this year.
Bobbye was a long time member of Southern Oregon Antiques and Collectibles Club in Medford and served as president of the club for 16 years. She was also active in numerous local clubs and organizations including Talent Garden Club and Crater High School 1959 reunion committee.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Crater High Scholarship Fund at Crater Foundation, 300 Ash St., Central Point, OR 97502 or to Providence Hospice at 1111 Crater Lake Avenue, Medford, OR 97504.
One of her greatest joys was the time she shared with her grandchildren. They were the light of her life. Her time with friends and family was treasured. Her family would like to thank her many friends for the incredible help and support she received during this trying time. Your love and caring gave her much comfort and encouragement these last years.
Funeral arrangements will be handled by Hillcrest Memorial. Viewing will be Monday morning, October 10th. at Hillcrest Memorial Park, 2201 N. Phoenix Road, Medford from 9 to 10:30 a.m. followed by a celebration of life service with light refreshments held in the Community Bible Church, 500 N. 10th. Street, Central Point, Oregon at 1 p.m. Long time friend and pastor, David Campbell will officiate at the service.
