Baseball player, Chicago White Sox

What is Caleb Frare known for?

Caleb Frare, born on July 8, 1993 in Miles City, Montana, is an esteemed alumni of Custer County District High School. Despite his high school not offering baseball, he played for the Outlaws Baseball Club and went on to become a respected American professional baseball pitcher. He started his professional career being drafted by the New York Yankees in the 11th round of the 2012 Major League Baseball Draft, subsequently signing with them and foregoing his commitment to play college baseball at the University of Utah.

During his time with the Yankees, Frare made his professional debut, posting a 2-1 record with a 2.74 ERA in 23 innings. However, he encountered some obstacles on his journey, having to undergo Tommy John Surgery and rehab from a quadriceps tear which led to him not pitching in the years 2013 and 2014.

On return from his injuries, Frare bounced back admirably, pitching for both the Charleston RiverDogs and Tampa Yankees. He recorded a combined 6-3 record and 2.91 ERA across 55.2 total relief innings pitched. His journey with the Yankees then led him to Trenton Thunder, where he compiled a 3-4 record with a 4.02 ERA in 62.2 total relief innings pitched between the two clubs.

In 2018, the Yankees traded Frare to the Chicago White Sox. His time with the White Sox saw him assigned to the Charlotte Knights of the Class AAA International League before being promoted to the major leagues. Frare was, however, non-tendered by Chicago in December 2019 and became a free agent. Even then, he shortly re-signed with them on a minor league contract. Upon his release in June 2020, he had appeared in 16 games in the major leagues, boasting an impressive 11.2 K/9 and a 6.52 ERA with 12 strikeouts in 9.2 relief innings.

Following his time with the White Sox, Frare signed with the Sioux Falls Canaries of the American Association of Professional Baseball in March 2021, marking a new chapter in his professional career.

Throughout his career, Frare's determination and skill on the pitch have continued to distinguish him as a notable figure in American professional baseball, and a noteworthy alumni of Custer County District High School.
