Mark Taylor
Class of 1983
An avid song writer since his teenage years, Mark played in a band in high school (The Post Oak Boys) and was very involved in music at Texas A&M University during his undergraduate career. After writing and producing two youth musicals (Kronika, 1985 and SomeWherehouse, 1986), Mark worked on a variety of musical projects.
In 2000, Mark began working on a full-length Broadway-style musical entitled: "Esther: For Such A Time As This." After writing the entire show and producing sound tracks in just three months, the show was shelved for about ten years until recording a CD in 2010.
In January 2011, The Theatre Company of Bryan/College Station produced the show, selling out all four performances and making ESTHER that organization's top-selling show in its 25-year history. Mark has recently finished writing another musical, CORAZON, based on the 1986 EDSA/People's Revolution in The Philippines. In 2012 he was commissioned by the Arts Council of Brazos Valley to write an original production for the 2012 Celebrate The Arts gala, and hired by the City of College Station, Texas to write an original Christmas musical ("Santa's Texas Vacation Celebration) for the annual Christmas At The Creek event at Wolf Pen Creek Amphitheater. CDs of both "Celebrate The Arts" and "Santa's Texas Vacation Celebration" are currently in production.
