About Ruben Martinez, Jr., 33, passed away and went to his Father’s home on Sunday, February 15, 2009. Ruben, Jr. was born on December 24th, 1975 in El Paso , TX . He is the greatly beloved first born son of Ruben and Vivian D. Martinez; the loving brother of Denise Mary V. Martinez, Catherine Leah Martinez, and Ryan Bowie Martinez; the father of Sean Paul Martinez, Ruben Martinez, III, and Austin Kage; the playful uncle of Hope Vivian D. Barron, Christian Zane Barron, and Noah Seth Blu Barron; Grandson of Carmen V. Martinez and Maria Cochran, Roswell, N.M. In addition, Ruben so loved his aunts, uncles, and families who survived him: Camilo and Rosa Martinez, John and Kay Cochran; TN., Michael and Claudie Cochran, Mando Gonzalez, all of Artesia, N.M.; Nino and Nina Ruben and Carmen Cabada, Nino and Nina Olga and Carlos Salgado, GA., Dolores Martinez, Vicki and Raymond Calderon, Joann and Jimmy Calderon, Judy and Paul Alvarez, Artesia, N.M. Ruben has many, many cousins, friends and extended family members whom he deeply loved. Finally, the love of his life, Natalie. Waiting to greet Ruben at his eternal dwelling place were grand fathers Camilo Martinez and Chester A. Cochran (the original “Pops.”), and uncles Geraldo (Jerry) Martinez and David Zane Cochran. Ruben graduated from UTEP in May 2008 with a degree in Nursing. He was employed at Del Sol Medical Center. One of Ruben’s passions (his purpose he called it) was to care for others, which he did for many years. His greatest passion was his great love for his family and personal friends. The words he read constantly and recited repeatedly were inspired by God’s Scripture. So, on his early death, “Having become perfect in a short while, he reached the fullness of a long career; for his soul was pleasing to the Lord, therefore he sped him out of the midst of wickedness (Wisdom 4:13-14).
