About	James "Paul"'s Story James Paul Robinson, 71 died after a courageous battle with cancer and the recent loss two weeks prior of the love of his life, "Linda" at his Church Street home with his children Lori and Garnett at his side. James or Paul as he was known by, was born on May 2, 1946 in St Stephen, New Brunswick to Ethel Woodard Robinson and James Harold Robinson. Paul grew up and spent the first ten years of his life in New Brunswick before moving with his parents and sister to Dexter Maine where he attended schools graduating in 1964. Paul then went on to Ricker College to study Geology graduating in 1969. He enjoyed those school experiences and formed lifelong friendships with fraternity brothers from Lambda Chi. Paul married the love of his life Linda Robinson on June 29, 1968 in the West Forks while working for Humble Oil where he worked in mineral exploration and taking pride at being the only staff geologist there that was not a Doctor. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1969 and would jokingly say how desperate they must have been to draft a 23 year old Canadian Geologist who already had a wife, baby and another on the way. He spent two years in the army at Fort Huachuca as a specialist flying infra red aerial mapping before being discharged and going back to his beloved family and geology with a new company North American Explorations. In 1971, because of his father getting ill, Paul left geology, moved back to Dexter and attended the first Property Tax School at Bowdoin College and went to work for the Maine State Bureau of Taxation where he would work for the next 38 years as a property appraiser spending the majority of that time "Assessing" the Unorganized Townships of Maine with the work nickname "JR" in the woods and on the waters of the State he so beloved. In 1974 he became a naturalized citizen and devoted himself to being a good one serving as Chair on the Dexter Planning Board for the next 20 years, volunteering for countless town projects and also belonging to a number of charitable organizations over time including the Dexter Jaycees, Dexter Kiwanis and as a Master Mason belonging to Penobscot Lodge in Dexter where he was "raised up" in 1977. Due to his keen intellect and love of learning Paul had many licenses and side jobs over the years including licensed Geologist, the first licensed soil examiner in the State, a licensed Real Estate Broker helping his long time friend Norman Cookson establish a business in Dexter, a Certified General Real Estate Appraiser, Certified Maine Assessor, a licensed surveyor, having gotten it by laying out and designing the Dexter Golf course with his friend Bill Webber, a bail bondsman bailing the local yahoos and his favorite license a General Guide which later became known as Master Maine Guide which he had held since the 1960's just as his father Jim and his famous Guide Grandfather "Sidney" Robinson who guided for the Hale's who own Yankee Magazine and had camps in Vanceboro had. He had great pride that he had generations of market hunting, guiding and woods camp work in his history. Paul loved to cook and was famous for his no recipe "Guide's Bread" taught to him by his Uncle Miles Robinson who had learned how to make it by working in woods camps of his youth. Paul especially loved Christmas and would painstakingly decorate his house and put up unbelievably huge Christmas trees in his lofted living room and have a yearly Christmas Eve Party attended by friends and family. Paul also loved taking his family and friends to his camps at Abol and North East Carry and always had an open-door policy of letting others enjoy them with or without him there at no cost. Other favorites of Paul's were telling jokes and stories during his early morning coffee shop routine starting at 3:30 AM with his friend "Vince" at Toots before mozying up to Robinson's with his free re-fill cup with more friends. Paul also loved a toddy and would have friends over many evenings for a martini, gin and tonic or some other creation. Paul will forever be remembered as the most loving, funny, kind, caring and friendly Father, Grampy, Great Grampy, son, brother and friend and sorely missed by those who knew him. He surely rests with Angels and his beloved wife of over 49 years Linda Robinson. He is survived by his son Garnett Robinson and wife Sally of Dixmont; his daughter Lori Robinson and Boyfriend, Edward Bligh of Dexter; his grandchildren Paul Ryerson and Fiancee Cassandra Crocker of Saint Albans; Scott Robinson of Dexter; Holly Hegarty and Boyfriend Josh Bragan of Bangor; Hannah Hegarty of Hermon; Sylvia Seamans of Maryland; Kaylee Brown of Buxton; Great Granddaughter Ahmya Ryerson of Saint Albans; many nieces and nephews including his especially close niece Cathy Wyman of Dexter; and special friends Cousin Guy Woodard of St John New Brunswick, Paul Belmain of Freeport, Bob Poulin of Corinna, Dave Barry of Dexter, Vince Sawyer of Dexter, Don Phelps of Dexter and too many more to name. Paul was predeceased by his beloved wife Linda, his sister Carol Clukey of Dexter, his parents Jim and Ethel Robinson of Cambridge and Dexter. A Celebration of both Paul and Linda's Lives will be held at Moosehead Trail Motor Lodge, 300 Corinna Road, Dexter on Sunday December 17, 2017 from 12:00 to 4:00 PM.
