Charles Ray Knight, born on December 28, 1952, in Albany, Georgia, is an American former Major League Baseball infielder and a cherished alumni of Dougherty Comprehensive High School in Albany, GA. Knight is best remembered for his time with the Cincinnati Reds and the New York Mets.

Knight began his substantial Major League Baseball (MLB) career with the Cincinnati Reds in 1974 and played there until 1981. He continued to shine in the baseball field with the Houston Astros from 1982 to 1984, the New York Mets from 1984 to 1986, the Baltimore Orioles in 1987, and finally, with the Detroit Tigers in 1988. He later managed the Cincinnati Reds team from 1996 to 1997 and again in 2003.

Throughout his career, Knight boasted respectable statistics with a batting average of .271, achieved 84 home runs, and 595 runs batted in. As a manager, his record was 125-137, and his winning percentage was .477.

Knight was also a 2-time All-Star in 1980 and 1982. He made history as the World Series champion in 1986 and was awarded the World Series MVP that same year.

Apart from his notable achievements as a player, Knight is also known for his off-field contributions to baseball. From 2007 to 2018, he served as a studio analyst and occasional game analyst for the Mid-Atlantic Sports Network's coverage of the Washington Nationals, sharing his insights and experience with a newer generation of baseball enthusiasts.
