Greg Wood

Class of 1989

"Enrolled" in 1977 and finally "Graduated" in 1989 after spending some of the best years of my life with my "Classmates". I was the tall guy in glasses with the mustache. Recently I had a dream; or was it ? I felt like I had fallen down the White Rabbits hole. I emerged at this wide spot in the road in the middle of nowhere. A small sign read, Boody. I crossed over some old railroad tracks and wound around this street to a brick structure of some sort. There was some generic playground equipment, and a large grassy area that looked like a good place if you wanted to have a field day. There was a rear entrance that intrigued me, and when I tried the handle, it was unlocked. I entered what appeared to be a kitchen. There was a large sink on the wall and an oven at the rear of the room. There were rows of desks and a large oak desk at the front with some sort of pale green pulpit like thing on top of it. Behind this desk was a blackboard with some saying written in the upper left hand corner: No God, no peace. Know God, know peace. There was a door leading out into a hallway. i looked to my left and the floor sloped downhill toward the front of the building. There were more classrooms on the right of the hall and at the end of this 'hillway' around to the left I could hear the sounds of young children laughing and having a good time. As I stood outside that "kitchen" room, just to my right, was a doorway into what appeared to be a gym. The weird thing was that there were tables on the floor like you were supposed to eat there. At one end there was an elevated stage that also appeared to be for a classroom. The "gymateria" exited to another hallway with more classrooms. This was all very strange and then in my mind I could hear words flooding in... no not words but names. Deverick, Moore, McCammack, Durnil, Warren, Cofer, Anderson, Darling, Brown, Henderson, Grady, Coker, Mayberry, Elliott and hundreds more. There were too many to account for and yet they all seemed to have one thing in common. All of them radiated with a sense of love for one another like a huge family. Suddenly, an apparition appeared that looked like an American bald eagle. he introduced himself to me as Ernie. He led me back into the gym and there was some sort of parade marching around the perimeter of the floor. Kids pulling miniature floats decorated in every way imaginable. They were all very Spirited like they were competing for some kind of award. One thing became very clear to me about this strange little place in Boody. This building had been occupied for many years by an amazing group of people of varying ages who truly loved one another, and sought a higher purpose than just a good education. "They that wait upon the Lord shall mount up with wings like an EAGLE." May God continue to bless them all!
