About Event

MARK YOU CALENDAR…

Our 50th East Robertson High School reunion (Class of 1968) has been planned for Saturday – June 2nd, 2018 and includes a river cruise, meal and dinner show on the General Jackson riverboat at Opry Mills in Nashville. Cost for the event is $79.05 per person which has been discounted for us from the standard $99.00 cost.

I look forward to seeing everyone and their BETTER HALVES. This should be a blast…

The General Jackson is designed to recreate the showboats that plied the waters of American rivers in the 19th century. A musical show is presented during the primary March–December season, with two cruises usually taken each day. Our Evening cruise will feature group dining with eight to ten persons per table as well as a country music show for which the Opry is known. No outside food or drink is allowed although there are several full service bar areas available where you can purchase alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks not included as part of your cruise/dinner/show package.

The General Jackson showboat is located at 2812 Opryland Drive in Nashville, Tennessee and shares a parking lot with Opry Mills with no charge for parking. To arrive, take Exit 11 (Opry Mills) off of Briley Parkway (TN-155). Move into the left lane prior to the traffic light to access the parking area on the back side of Opry Mills. The closest parking will be located between the Food Court entrance and Sun & Ski Sports, directly across from the General Jackson Plaza area where boarding takes place.

Dress is casual for all cruises. Shirts and shoes are required to be worn at all times. No halter top or bathing suit tops are allowed. The cruise boards starting at 6:15 p.m. which allows us time to mingle while listening to a live band and enjoying a beverage of our choice. The riverboat then departs at 7:00 p.m. with the cruise lasting approximately 3.0 hours, both cameras and video cameras are permitted. The 300-foot-long paddle wheel General Jackson holds the distinction of being the largest showboat in the world and will take us past natural and historical sights along the banks of the Cumberland river to downtown Nashville and back to our departure point. Four massive decks offer excellent opportunities to see the beautiful sights of Nashville and the stunning countryside of central Tennessee.

The menu has not yet been set for our cruise but typically includes a salad, two entrees to select from, a variety of vegetables, bread, dessert and tea, coffee or decaffeinated coffee.

Finally, let’s not forget to remember our classmates that have passed on.

REST IN PEACE
