Shawn Lauvao

Offensive lineman for NFL's Washington Redskins

What is Shawn Lauvao known for?

Shawn Sisifo Lauvao is a notable alumni of Farrington High School in Honolulu, Hawaii, U.S. Born on October 26, 1987, Shawn became a respected American football player and established a promising career as an offensive lineman in the National Football League (NFL). Shawn's career took off when he started his last 33 games at Arizona State University, playing in multiple positions like left guard, left tackle, and right tackle. His exceptional performance earned him Second Team All-Pac-10 honors during his junior and senior years, signaling the start of a successful era.

Following his college career, Shawn was drafted by the Cleveland Browns in the third round of the 2010 NFL Draft. His stint with the Browns was quite fruitful as he became a starter in his second season and played in all 16 games over the next two seasons. His accomplishments and increasing recognition in the league led to his four-year, $17 million contract with the Washington Redskins in 2014, where he took over the starting left guard position.

Throughout his NFL tenure, Shawn played 99 games and started in 90 of those, a testament to his agility and skill on the football field. Unfortunately, injuries also marked his tenure. In 2015 and 2017, he was placed on injured reserve due to an ankle injury and a stinger injury, respectively. Despite these setbacks, his spirit remained unbroken, and he re-signed with the Redskins in 2018, only to be placed on injured reserve later that year after an ACL tear.
