About	Robert Gavin Hamil, age 68 of Berkley, Michigan passed away in his home surrounded by family on Monday, July 20, 2020. He was born in Detroit on Thursday, March 20, 1952 to Robert and Betty Hamil. Robert proudly served our country, fighting in the Vietnam War as an airman for the United States Air Force. After the war, Robert returned to Michigan and worked as a steel purchaser for automotive part manufacturers. On August 25, 1990 he married Mary Hamil in St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Ferndale. Beyond his family, his other true love was books. Robert was an avid reader, he would often visit the Berkley Public Library and when that was not available he would exchange books with the Little Free Libraries around Berkley. He was the beloved husband of Mary Hamil; the cherished father of Theresa (William) Morrison, Daniel (Patricia) Godin, Christine Godin, and Jennifer Killewald; the very proud grandfather of twelve grandchildren; the loyal brother of David Hamil; and caring uncle to Nick Hamil and Alex Hamil.
