When the new Floris Elementary school opened in 1955, the cafeteria was not operational. I remember that classes were marched several blocks down the street to eat in the old school cafeteria located at the current Frying Pan Park or Kidwell farm. Fairfax County police directed traffic and the safety patrols kept everyone in line and moving. Then we marched back! I think this went on for several weeks, maybe a month.
