Sherilyn Bailey AKA Xenobia Bailey Class of 1967
Class of 1967, Garfield Alumni Sherilyn Bailey AKA Xenobia Bailey, recieved a contract from New York City Metropolitan Transit Authority to design 3 mosaics from ceramic tiles, for the new subway stations, on the extended #7 subway line. The project is a massive work of public art.
As subway riders descend the escalator into a new #7 line, subway station near 10th Avenue and 34th Street in 2013, they will be followed by a mosaic of brightly colored celestial orbs shining from a deep blue sky designed by Ms Bailey.
