About	June 28, 2007 AUGUSTA, Ga.---18-year-old Samara Jones is dead after a shooting at Cedar Grove Apartments on Richmond Hill Road West, near the old Regency Mall. She was found shot once in the head inside an apartment she shared with her mother. A witness heard fighting and then a gunshot, then observed a man leaving the apartment and getting into the passenger side of a silver four-door vehicle. Investigators used that vehicle to identify the suspect, 18-year-old Jatavious Laron January, who contacted investigators later and turned himself in. Investigators say Jones and January were in a relationship, but were in the process of breaking up. Jones leaves behind a small child. Neighbors say a group of her family and friends had left the scene only minutes before the shooting. January is charged with murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
