About	Private First Class Kenneth McDaniel, 23, returned to Fort Hood in November 2011 as President Obama ordered troops home from Iraq, McDaniel’s mother Gloria said. The family enjoyed a Christmas holiday united with their three children, including Kenneth, his sister Kathryn, and older brother Kevin, a Sergeant at Fort Hood. On New Years’ Day, Gloria McDaniel attended church after leaving Kenneth in a “deep sleep.” When McDaniel and her husband returned home, they found Kenneth in the garage and couldn’t get him to wake up, so they called 911. McDaniel attended schools in Tomball ISD before transferring to Klein ISD, where he graduated from Klein Collins High School in 2006. Gloria McDaniel called her son a “very bright boy” growing up, noting that he was an avid reader.
