About Me | I accepted the gift of Eternal Salvation and a Life with God when I was 12 in July of 2001. I may not remember the exact day (other than Sunday)or the exact time but I do remember how I felt. For weeks I felt Jesus tugging at my heart, telling me that I needed him now more than ever. Mom says that I had been asking more and more about salvation and how one becomes saved and what it means. I remember I was in Children's Church, but I do not remember what we had discussed. The teacher was talking to another student about becoming saved (not concentrating on me at all). I felt a stronger pull than I had ever felt and tears in my eyes. I understood that I was a sinner. Nothing I could ever do would save me from that. I needed Christ. I needed Jesus to come into my heart and save me. I needed to stop trying to do things my own way (which, by the way, never worked out very well) and surrender my life to Jesus so he could show me how to live it better. I remember right after I prayed (silently and I forget the words), I felt this incredible peace and happiness. It was like I was floating in this bright (but not blinding) expanse but surrounded in this embrace of warmth like in someone's arms. Loooking back, I wonder if it might have been an exceedingly brief glimpse of heaven. Nothing has ever surpassed that feeling. Although the path has not been easy or very kind, it has been well worth it to have Jesus walking by my side through it all, and indeed carrying me when I was too weak to walk. (I should confess right now that Footprints in the Sand is one of my favorite poems). I know that I have a Peace, a pure, enduring Peace, that so many around me lack. And I wish so much to help them. It is, sadly, all to easy to give up all together when every time you reach out your hand it comes back bitten. But I still try to show everyone the love Jesus and God showed for me. I still hope that even one unknowing word might set someone on the path to reaching Heaven. So I keep trying and I hope you all will, ...(read more) |
