Joan was not just a LINK, she was my big sister. I always looked up to her and could talk to her about anything. Sometimes we would sit on the phone for an hour or two and say very little, but still enjoy that connection we had. On a road trip from Colorado back to Lincoln for family thanksgiving trip there was a snow storm starting when we left Lincoln and we ended up staying the night in Kearney. When we got up the next morning we had breakfast and hit the road. We were probably only 20-30 miles down I-80 from Kearney when we spun out in her Chevette and found outselves sitting on the shoulder of the interstate facing the opposite direction. We sat and laughed to hard for so long. Then suddenly we both quit laughing. We both knew what the other was thinking without saying anything. So we got turned around and headed back towards Colorado. A couple weeks later we were talking about that trip and admitted we stopped laughing when we realized someone else could spin out too and slam into us. After we sharing that we laughed again about the spin out. I miss my big sister so much. She was kind of quiet until she got to know you. And she was faithful and dependable as a friend and sister.
