About Chicago Tribune, June 21, 1997: "Hometown Crash Kills Mokena Woman". One woman was killed and three people were injured early Friday in a traffic accident in Hometown when a driver apparently became involved in an argument with a passenger and lost control of her vehicle. Lisa Bermingham, 28, of Mokena died early Friday after she lost control of her sport-utility vehicle while arguing with a front-seat passenger on Pulaski Road south of 87th Street, said Hometown Deputy Police Chief Howard Reinheimer. Bermingham was northbound on Pulaski about 2 a.m. with three passengers, one in front and two in back. Reinheimer said witnesses traveling southbound reported that Bermingham and passenger Andrea K. Swain of Chicago were fighting in the front seat. The 1994 Isuzu Amigo began to swerve, and its back wheel hit a curb, causing it to knock down a sign near a cemetery before rolling over several times, he said. All four were ejected from the vehicle, Reinheimer said. Bermingham, of the 19500 block of Glennell Avenue, was pronounced dead of multiple injuries at Christ Hospital and Medical Center in Oak Lawn, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. Swain was in critical condition at Christ Hospital with a head injury, said Jan Barnett, a hospital spokeswoman. Richard Miller, 29, of Frankfort and Joe P. Cortese, 27, of Tinley Park were both in fair condition, Barnett said.
