About Fred Spottsville, Jr., M.D., F.A.C.C., and devoted servant of Jesus Christ, passed away at 63 on Saturday, December 25, 2010 at his residence surrounded by loving family members. He was born on November 24, 1947 in Little Rock, AR to the late Fred and Clarice (Smith) Spottsville, Sr. Fred married his love Terri Lou McCoy on October 4, 1986 in Anderson.
Fred obtained his undergraduate degree from Millikin University in Decatur, IL and his doctorate degree from Stanford University in Stanford, CA. Fred spent his internship, residency, and fellowship at University Hospitals of Cleveland in Cleveland, OH from 1974-1979. Fred began his private cardiology practice at St. John''s Health System in Anderson in 1979. From 1979-1985 Fred was the Director of the Cardiology Laboratory, the Director of the Coronary Care Unit, and the Director of the Cardiac Rehabilitation Center at St. John''s Health System. He joined Nasser, Smith and Pinkerton Cardiology in 1991which later became The Care Group/St. Vincent Medical Group where he practiced until October 2010. Fred was a staff physician at Community Hospital Anderson from 1993 - October 2010.
Fred was also proud of his undergraduate and graduate awards and honors which included graduating Magna Cum Laude; being on the Dean''s List; shining among the Who''s Who Among Students in American Universities & Colleges; being a member of Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society as well as Sigma Zeta Honorary Science Society; and being a member of Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society.
Fred''s professional memberships include those of the American Medical Association; the American College of Cardiology; the American College of Physicians; and the American Heart Association and Clinical Council.
Fred truly cared for everyone. As a Sunday school teacher and member of Wesley Free Methodist Church in Anderson, he preached the Lord''s word daily. As a physician, he was a positive role model to all of his patients. He always exercised to promote good health. Furthermore, Fred was an avid book reader; movie watcher and movie collector. Fred also enjoyed vacationing in Hawaii.
Fred loved his family to the fullest. He is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Terri Spottsville; children: Raymon L. Spottsville (wife, Tamara) of Cleveland, OH; Rodney L. Spottsville (wife, Loretta) of Big Flats, NY; Jason R. Moore of Mooreland, IN; and Justin T. Moore of Anderson, IN; 6 grandchildren: Brianna Spottsville; Jasmine Spottsville; Terrell Spottsville; Trenton Spottsville; Kenzie Moore; and Kole Moore; sister''s-in-law: Lana Dial (husband, Frank) of Anderson, IN and Jana Casey (husband, Darrell) of Morrow, OH; daughter in-law Lesia Moore; Aunt Reubena Newsom (Spottsville) of Shawneetown, IL; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews of the Spottsville Family, Newsom Family, Dial Family, Casey Family and Beer Family; and many dear friends and colleagues.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter Lauryn Spottsville; nephew Zachery Johnson; and in-laws Robert & Roma McCoy.
