About Eston R. Sutton went to be with his Lord on April 20, 2008. He was born in Longworth, Texas on December 29, 1936. He was a graduate of the Class of 1955 of Lorena High School; received his B.S. from Oklahoma City University, where he also studied for a Master’s Degree in Christian Education. Eston served in the U.S. Air Force for 20 years, retiring as a Major with many awards and honors, among them the Bronze Star Medal for his service during the Vietnam War. His second career was as Contracting Officer for Civil Service. Eston was a faithful member of Coker United Methodist Church for more than 20 years and after his “retirement” he volunteered his services for many years. In recognition of his service and dedication, he was honored by being named as an Honorary Life-Time Member of the Board of Disciples, an honor he treasured above all he had received.
As a husband, Eston was loving and dedicated. He and his wife, Kathryn were married for over 51 years. Eston was a devoted father; coaching baseball, teaching his children to bowl, serving as the Boy Scout Liaison Officer while stationed in Germany, encouraging them to do their best in band, drama, and all activities they participated in. He was so proud of each of them and loved them dearly.
Eston is survived by his wife, Kathryn Moreland Sutton; son, Terry and his wife Judi, son, Ronald; daughter, Shannon Tatsch and her husband Michael; mother, Mary Sutton; grandchildren, Amber Conner and Eston Lee Sutton; great-grandchildren, Nicolas and Hunter Tatsch; brothers, Bobby, James, Clinton, and M.C. Sutton. Eston was preceded in death by his son, Bryan Ray Sutton and his father, Grady Sutton.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, April 23, 2008 at Coker United Methodist Church, 231 E. North Loop Road, San Antonio, TX. Rev. Stephen Sanders and Rev. Joe Ed Lamb will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Coker United Methodist Church Memorial Fund.
