Judge John T. WOoldridge
Class of 1977
Judge John T. Wooldridge is a former U.S. Navy Prosecutor, a former Special Assistant United States Attorney, and a retired Texas State District Court Judge. He was a partner in private practice with a law firm in Houston, Texas before being appointed to be the Presiding Judge of the 269th Judicial District Court. His practice was predominately civil litigation, insurance, and admiralty. Judge Wooldridge has been practicing law in Texas for 26 years and has 15 years of judicial service. Judge Wooldridge currenlty is an in-house counsel with an international oil & gas company in Houston, Texas.
Judge Wooldridge is also a Captain in the United States Navy, Judge Advocate General’s Corps. He is a former United States Military Judge, the former Commanding Officer of the Navy Reserve Region Legal Service Office for Europe, Africa and Southwest Asia, the former Executive Officer for the Navy Reserve Trial Judiciary and served as the Senior Military Officer of the Navy Reserve Region Legal Service Office, Hawaii. Judge Wooldridge was recalled to active duty in 2008, completing a tour of duty as a Legal Advisor with the Office for the Administrative Review of the Detention of Enemy Combatants (OARDEC) at the U.S. Navy Base, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.
Judge Wooldridge was a member of the Boards of Trustees of Texas Christian University, Ft. Worth, Texas, Episcopal High School, Bellaire, Texas and at The Oaks at Briargrove School, Houston, Texas. He is the past Chairman of the Houston Business Network of the TCU National Alumni Association, past president of the TCU Houston Alumni Chapter and a member of the Houston Regional Council. He is a Sustaining Life Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation and the Houston Bar Foundation.
Judge Wooldridge graduated from McHi in 1977 and was the Senior Class President. He earned his BFA from Texas Christian University in 1981, his J.D. from St. Mary’s University School of Law in 1987 and received his LL.M. from Tulane Law School in 1991. He is married to Ann Johnson Wooldridge, and they have four children.
