About Benny Lloyd Barnes, age 63, passed away on Saturday, August 1, 2020 surrounded by his loved ones. Benny was born in Greenfield, Indiana on October 13, 1956 to mother, Bonnie Begley and father, Reid Barnes.
Benny graduated from Mt. Vernon High School in 1975. He worked as a machinist at Monroe Custom Bodies. Benny married Debra (Head) Barnes in 1978 and together they had three beautiful daughters. Benny loved to spend time with his daughters listening to music, laughing and reminiscing. He had a love for music and sports. Benny played softball for many years with his buddies. There was never a dull moment with Benny around, he always made sure that you were seeing the BIG picture! He wouldn't want us to dwell on things. He would want us to continue to paint happy things on our canvases and would want us to "Keep on rockin in the free world!!!"
Benny was preceded in death by his daughter Brooke Lace Barnes and brother Darrell Wheeler.
In addition to Benny's parents he is survived by his stepmother, Charlene Barnes.
Benny is survived by his daughters, Casey Rose Barnes and Summer Barnes (fiance Cameron Tunstill), grandsons, Bennson Leeper and Zeke Blessing. Benny is also survived by his siblings, Danny Wheeler, Edie (Donnie)Denny, Carl Barnes, Jake Barnes and Marcus Barnes. He is also survived by many nieces, great nieces, nephews and great nephews. Benny had a lot of great friends and he will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Funeral services will be held at Liming Family Funeral Home located at 306 Main Street, Shirley, Indiana 47384 on Saturday, August 8, 2020. Friends may call from 11:00 am until the funeral service at 1:00 pm with Pastor Rob Mifflin officiating. Burial will follow at Gravel Lawn Cemetery in Fortville. The family is having a celebration of Benny's life after the service at Ingalls Park and anyone attending may bring a covered dish if they would like. If any donations would like to be made in Benny's honor please direct them to his daughter Casey.
In accordance with Governor Eric Holcomb the Indiana covid-19 guidelines will be followed. Social distancing and masks encouraged for those attending for their safety.
