Robert J. Day, Sr.

Class of 1979

Mr. Robert J. Day, Sr., of Edgewater, FL, formerly of Skygusty, WV, was presented the Space Flight Awareness (SFA) STS-130 Launch Honoree Award for his outstanding work in support of NASA’s human space flight program. An instrumentation design and analysis space shuttle engineer employed by The Boeing Company, he was one of 30 receptients to receive this prestigious award. Vice President and General Manager of Space Exploration, Mr. Brewster Shaw, presented the awards in a ceremony held on February 5, 2010, at the Gaylord Palms Resort in Kissimmee, FL. The SFA award is one of the highest awards presented by NASA to industry first-level managers and below.

Robert is the son of Robert F., Jr. and Josephine Day of Skygusty, WV; the grandson of Cledia Day of Bean Station, TN and the late Robert F. Day, Sr. and the late Joseph & Annie Constanzo. He is a 1979 graduate from Mt. View High School, Welch, WV. Prior to his relocation to Florida, he was employed by the US Steel Preparation Plant in Gary, WV while pursuing his engineering degree at Bluefield State College. In May 1985, he earned his Bachelors Degree of Science in Electrical Engineering from Bluefield State College, Bluefield, WV.
