About	Ellie Bishop, daughter of Bobbie and John Bishop, passed away Wednesday, April 8, 2009 after battling ALS. Ellie was born on January 18, 1953 in Florence, South Carolina. She received a bachelorâ€™s degree in Psychology from Berry College in Rome, Georgia, and then went on to receive a Masters in Business Management from Troy University. A devoted patriot, Ellie served in the U.S. Air Force, from 1980 to 1995, where she rose to the rank of Major. Ellie was stationed at bases all over the world during her career. As a Supplies Specialist, among other duties, Major Bishop served as Director of Protocol for Torrejon AB in Spain and was an Air Officer Commanding of Cadets at the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs. Everywhere she went, Ellie made special friends, and in keeping with her nature, Ellie nurtured those friendships for years afterward. To Ellie, her friends were her family. Following her Air Force career, Ellie continued her love of travel as a flight attendant for Southwest Air Lines retiring last August with 10 years of service. Ellie leaves behind her loving husband Mark Holmes, her sister Sue Howell, her niece Rachel Bishop who helped care for Ellie, her niece Christine and nephew Clay, who will all miss her greatly. Services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, April 25, 2009, at the Lindale United Methodist Church. Henderson & Sons Funeral Home has charge of the funeral arrangements. * * * * * *
