Obituary
Mark Edwin Timm

July 21, 1956 - December 7, 2020

Everyone pour the scotch and raise that glass high in the air—Mark Timm is in paradise. For years he dreamed of the day he would enter those gates, and that dream was achieved on December 7, 2020.

He talked many a time about his welcoming committee and was no doubt greeted by an entourage of some of his absolute favorite human beings- some being his dear friends Tim Steele and John Reesing, his grandparents on both sides, his mother and father-in-law, Beatrice and Bob Slagle, his favorite Uncle, Galen Junkins, his lifelong role model, Jack Eick, his beloved mother, Phillis Timm, and his adored son-in-law Andrew Luetkehans.

What a party.

Mark lived his 64-years to the beat of his own free-spirit, and boy, did he have stories to tell. Born the baby of three to Phillis and George Timm on July 21, 1956, he kept the family laughing, but certainly on their toes.

He attended Snider High School where he wore many hats. He was involved in theater, wrestling, football, and was also the student body president.

He lived his early twenties as a nomad of sorts, leaving college to take off to Hollywood in pursuit of a career in comedy. He beamed as he talked about his “Hollywood days,” about the many friends he made, the “experiences” he smoked… I mean had… and most importantly, about meeting the woman who would become the love of his life.

Mark and Lynn left the hustle and bustle of Hollywood and moved out to the suburbs when they welcomed their son, Daniel, into the world on October 5, 1982. Mark pursued various careers over the years, but ultimately got involved with McDonnell Douglas and grew with the company as it later became Boeing, and then United Launch Alliance. His career brought him from California to Pueblo, Colorado, and later to Hartselle, Alabama, where he found himself in many arguments as he verbally believed that SEC football was overrated. He was a Big Ten guy in Bama country, but those around him adored him anyways.

Mark is survived by his wife of 40 years, Lynn Timm, son Daniel Timm, Daughters Rebecca (Brandon) Hopper, and Alycia Luetkehans, father George Timm, Brother David (Cindy) Timm, sister Jean (Doug) Deller, and a plethora of nieces and nephews whom he simply adored. He was a beloved Papa to grandchildren Brooklynn Howard, Sydney Howard, Wyatt Hopper, and Grayson Hopper.

As suggested in a lyric from one of his favorite songs, we are all proud to be “the living legacy to the leader of the band.”

He lived his life in a cloud of jubilee, and his memory, though terribly missed, will always have the power to bring a smile to the faces of those who experienced the big loving and loveable goof that was Mark Timm.
