What is Brent Headrick known for?

Brent Wayne Headrick, born on December 17, 1997, in Braidwood, Illinois, is a notable alumni of Reed-Custer High School in Braidwood, Illinois. He went on to attend Illinois State University where he played college baseball for the Illinois State Redbirds.

Headrick's professional career took off when he was selected by the Minnesota Twins in the ninth round of the 2019 Major League Baseball draft. He made his professional debut with the rookie–level Elizabethton Twins, where he made three scoreless appearances in his maiden campaign.

Despite the cancellation of the minor league season in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Headrick continued on his journey to the majors. In 2021, he spent most of the year with the Single-A Fort Myers Mighty Mussels, logging a 3.82 ERA with 86 strikeouts in over 61 innings pitched. He also made a single start for the rookie-level Florida Complex League Twins.

In 2022, he made impressive strides, making 25 appearances split between the High-A Cedar Rapids Kernels and the Double-A Wichita Wind Surge. In over 108 innings, he posted a 10-5 record and 3.32 ERA with 136 strikeouts. His performance led to the Minnesota Twins adding him to their 40-man roster in November 2022, protecting him from the Rule 5 draft.

At the start of the 2023 season, Headrick was optioned to the Triple-A St. Paul Saints. However, he was soon recalled and promoted to the major leagues. On April 19, 2023, he made his MLB debut for the Minnesota Twins, earning his first save. By the end of the 2023 season, he had a win-loss record of 3-0, an earned run average of 6.31, and 30 strikeouts to his name.
