He was a science teacher at Rex Putnam High School from 1965-1984 and then a faculty member at Portland State University until 1995. He was an amazing teacher that could engage even the least interested science student! Very theatrical and hip with his dialog and explanations, but always right on target with the concepts, formulas and how to use them! My father, (North Clackamas SD director of curiculum), worked with him when he taught at Portland State on some kind of new integrated science program, (not the old one). He had a tremendous sense of humor and was voted most popular teacher many times!

Dave Cox taught me how to think like a scientist, and I will always be grateful. His sense of humor also left a lasting impression on me and many others. Still think of Dave when I reflect on my own career in teaching. JM
