What is Ryan Benjamin known for?

Ryan Arthur Benjamin, born on November 17, 1977, in Greenfield, Massachusetts, is an alumnus of River Ridge High School situated in New Port Richey, Florida. Outstanding in both football and baseball, he earned all-conference and All-North Suncoast honors his senior year as a defensive tackle. Post high school, he went on to play college football at the University of South Florida.

His promising talent paved his career path into the National Football League (NFL). Benjamin was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2001. He briefly shuffled between teams, appearing as a practice squad member for the New England Patriots and playing one game for the Chicago Bears, before returning to the Buccaneers. His career's major highlight came when he became part of the victorious Tampa Bay Buccaneers team in Super Bowl XXXVII in 2002.

On the statistical front, Benjamin played 27 games in the NFL. However, he did not get the opportunity to start in any of these games, nor did he have any fumble recoveries.

Interesting to note, Benjamin, a political science major while at USF, married his high school sweetheart, Theresa. He also served as the head coach at River Ridge High School through the 2021 fall season.
