| About | Obit-Barbara Elliott Rutledge-Sand Creek SAND CREEK %u2014 Barbara Rutledge, 72, of Sand Creek, died Friday, Sept. 28, 2007, at her daughter%u2019s home, surrounded by her family. She was born Oct. 4, 1934, in Sand Creek to Hal Mahlon Elliott and Jeanette E. Sass. She was married to Doyle Rutledge on Dec. 6, 1952. He preceded her in death on June 27, 2004. Her hobbies included crocheting, sewing, cooking, canning, watching sports, crossword puzzles, word searches, being up north, enjoying the fall colors, and having family get-togethers. Barbara is survived by her children, Richard Rutledge of Delta, Ohio, Ron Rutledge and his wife, Kay, of Sand Creek, Roxanne Metzmaker and her husband, Rick, of Jasper, Roberta %u201CBobbie%u201D Rutledge of Sand Creek, Rod Rutledge and his wife, Deb, of Biloxi, Miss., and Roseann Backos and her husband, Dennis, of Roseville, Michigan; brother, George (Diane) Elliott of Adrian, Mich.; sister, Mary (Bob) Hayden of Grayling, Mich.; 15 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Wanda Elliott; special family friend, Jodene Phenicie; and two special grand-cats, Winnie and Brodie. In addition to her husband, Doyle, she was preceded in death by her brother, Norm Elliott, and her parents. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2007, at 2 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home, Adrian, with the Rev. Bruce Jewett and son-in-law Dennis Backos officiating. Burial will be in Sand Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home, Adrian. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Lenawee and the Hickman Cancer Center. Envelopes are available at the Anderson Funeral Home, Adrian. |
