Sue and I were in Orchestra together. Sue was my first steady girlfriend. This was at the end of Sophomore year. She and her family lived on the west side of Cicero Avenue, just north of Montrose. All very nice people. Sue and I would stop at the McDonald's just south of Montrose. To give a hint as to how long ago, the McDonald's sign proudly proclaimed that over 70,000 burgers had been sold.

Sue and her husband came to our 40th Reunion. As we were touring Schurz, right at the entrance to the "Triangle" someone hugged me from behind. It was Sue. How special. We caught up and I found out the Sue was an avid animal activist.

While out of town in 2012, I picked up a Daily Herald and saw that Sue had passed on January 12, 2012. I'm so glad we reconnected in 2004. She will always remain my very first love. Pete Varley
