About Me | Just me, enjoying life. . . "I shall pass through this world but once. Any good therefore, that I can do, or any kindness that I can show to any human being, let me do it now. Let me not defer or neglect, for I shall not pass this way again." My life has been quite a process of learning and change. I graduated High School in 1967, was married @ 17 (6 days after H.S. graduation), 5-7 years later, I had two beautiful & healthy baby boys who were the light of my life. Divorced @ 35 & that's when the growth really began. Started college @ age 35, while working full time & raising those two beautiful boys alone. What a growth experience! Got AA degrees in Secondary Ed & Social Work, then completed my BS in Counseling Psychology, & on to a MA in Counseling. Took me many years, but I finally completed them. Worked @ Dept. of Human Services in Beckley, WV, for 5 years while attending college. Then went to work for FMRS in Beckley for a couple years. When I completed my MA I took a job at then Concord College, now AKA Concord University, as Director of the Counseling Center, located in Athens, WV. From that position I moved into a position as Counselor of the Alternative Education Center in Sophia, WV. And from that position went to a Counselor position of Shady Spring High School, in Shady Spring, WV. Until 2004, when I retired & moved to VA. I lived in VA for @ 4 years, and now have moved to Kernersville, NC, & have lived here since 2008. I like the winters better here in NC, but the summers are a bit hot. I keep busy with my grandykids, watching their events & trying to keep up with them in all their activities. I have 7 grandchildren - can you believe that? I have a grandson who's 19 years old - I just have a hard time believing that one, when did he grow up?! Then I have 2 - 17 year old grandygirls. I have one other grandson who's 12, and finally 3 other grandygirls who are 12, 11, and 9. I love them all dearly & they ...(read more) |
