About	Jim Calhoun, 53, died suddenly on March 3, 2010, at the home of a dear friend. Born in Wilderville, Ore., on Nov. 2, 1956, Jim was raised in Salem. He moved to Ashland to attend Southern Oregon State University, and earned degrees in general studies and accounting. He is survived by wife, Lori, whom he married in 1985; siblings, Bob Gibbs, Carolyn Calhoun-Shirley, Marvin Calhoun, and Tom Calhoun; and his many friends and fellow musicians. Jim lived for music. His participation in jazz, bluegrass, and musical theater as a bassist earned him glowing accolades and measureless notoriety. Many will always remember the exceptional skill, style, warmth, and humor he brought into the Rogue Valley's musical community. A celebration of Jim's life will be held at the SOU (Southern Oregon University) Music Recital Hall at 2:00 p.m., on Sunday, March, 14.
