About	Mary Gene Butler ( April 01, 1943 - December 22, 2018 ) Mary Gene Martin Butler was born April 1, 1943 in Nan Travis Hospital, Jacksonville, TX to Truston Martin and Gladys Kersch, Mary Gene passed away December 22, 2018 in Richardson, TX. She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Jack J. Butler, sons, Tracy Butler and wife Amy, Chad Butler; grandchildren: Carley, Rylie, Ryan, Reid; sisters, Sue Brown, Lynda Shuttlesworth and husband Richard; nephew, Brent Brown; niece, Shelley Shuttlesworth. Mary Gene was preceded in death by her parents, Truston and Gladys Martin; brother-in-law, Frank Brown, Father-in law and Mother-in law, Jack and Merle Butler. Mary Gene attended Troup Public Schools, Tyler Jr College, She earned Bachelor and Master’s degrees in Education from Stephen F Austin University. Mary Gene was very active in the choir and church orchestra. She enjoyed trips to Florida with her mother and sisters where they picked up sea shells on the beach and she enjoyed making things from the shells. She was an avid reader. Mary Gene taught in Gladewater ISD, West Rusk ISD, Corsicana ISD, North Lamar ISD, and 19 years at Garland High School. She retired after 30 years in teaching Visitation is Wednesday, December 26, 2018 at Williams Funeral Directors in Garland from 5:00 to 8:00 pm. Funeral service is 10:00 am, Thursday, December 27, 2018 at Lake Pointe Church White Rock Campus, 9150 Garland Rd, Dallas, TX 75218. Graveside service and interment will be 2:00 pm, Thursday, December 27, 2018 at Henry’s Chapel Cemetery, 4539 FM 13, Troup, TX 75789.
