About Me I am in love with Jesus and so thankful that God can clearly show you the way...if you listen... Life Changing story....Written in 2009 Certainly a life changer... I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis a little over 5 years ago, and it was not on my list of "Greatest News" days. Knowing that somewhere in my brain these spots developed causing things to not work properly anymore. This is not a very enjoyable experience. For some reason, my immune system is attacking my own nervous system. Sound crazy? Well it is!!! Imagine waking up one morning and putting both feet on the side of the bed, you go to stand up and for no apparent reason you just drop to the floor. Your legs just decide that they aren't going to hold you. Or, imagine holding something in your hand and you can't feel it there, the only reason you know it is there is because you can see it. Scary? YES. Imagine having a slight headache, deciding to take a little nap in hopes that when you awake the headache will have passed and then opening your eyes and only being able to see shadows out of one of them. Scary? INDEED! Being on a fast downward slide with this new (to me) disease, the majority of my day was spent in bed. Walking became difficult and sometimes impossible, crawling or scooting using my arms became almost like second nature. Extreme fatigue, body aches everywhere, numbness and tingling seem to be my constant companions. I had heard of exacerbations and remissions. Still not fully understanding either, I just believe that one day God would heal me! One evening I had a very important church service that I wanted to attend. Not for me, but for my spiritual mom. She was being ordained into Eldership. This particular day I did not know how I would even get there. I was so fatigued and extremely weak. I could not lift my legs to walk. I had to shuffle my feet...it was ridiculous. I didn't want to make a skeptical of myself or even draw attention to my condition. But I really wanted to be there. Sitting down, I looked as if nothing at al were wrong. On the outside I looked perfectly normal, but my insides chose to do it's own thing. Anyway I pressed my way to the service so that I could be in support of someone so near and dear to my heart. We got there late because I was moving so slow, but the thing is we got there. I believe due to obedience, that day God healed me!!! You may ask, why do you think you are healed when this disease can go into remission? I answer by telling you that I KNOW that GOD performed a miracle that day!! Remission happens over time, and yes even God healed many as they went, which means over time. BUT, what HE did in me was INSTANT! I instantly felt the strength come back into my legs. Just like the snap of a toy LEGO. That is how quick it was with me. I shuffled on a cane into church that Saturday evening with assistance, and I skipped down the steps twirling the cane like a baton on my way out! Though sometimes there may be a limp, I might loose my balance and sometimes even fall....I am standing and walking and I can not thank man, I can only thank GOD! For man did not do this for me! Yes I still take Avonex, an interferon drug that is injected intramuscularly once a week. It's purpose is to slow down the progression of Ms by reducing the lesions or those spots on the brain which in turn reduces the number or exacerbations. I don't believe God is finished! The day will come when I no longer have to take these injections and suffer from the side effects! Until then, I will continue to PRAISE HIM! I thank Him for choosing me to deal with this MS disease. I know that I will have some good days and some not so good days! However as long as His hand is on me, I can walk through the fire and not fear being burnt. Please say a prayer for me and pray for all those who suffer with this silent disease. Therefore by the grace of Go...(read more)
