What is Michael Thompson known for?

Michael Hayes Thompson, born on April 16, 1985, in Tucson, Arizona, is a renowned professional golfer who has left an indelible mark in the world of golf. As an alumnus of University High School in Tucson, Arizona, Thompson began building his impressive golfing career from a young age. Notably, he won the Class 4A state team championship in 2003 and was named the Arizona High School State Player of the Year in 2002 and 2003.

His collegiate years were equally impressive, starting at Tulane University and then transferring to University of Alabama. He was a prominent player on Alabama's golf team and was even named the 2008 SEC Player of the Year.

Making his professional debut in 2008, Thompson has participated in several tours including the PGA Tour, Korn Ferry Tour, and Hooters Tour. With four professional wins under his belt, he has definitely made a name for himself in the golfing community. His highest ranking was 43, achieved on March 10, 2013.

In his professional career, Thompson has had some standout moments. He was a finalist in the 2007 U.S. Amateur and was named the 2010 Hooters Tour Player of the Year. Thompson's first PGA Tour win came at the 2013 Honda Classic, propelling him to a career-high 45th in the OWGR.
