Graduation Year Class of 1976
Date of Passing Nov 16, 2020
About March 23, 1958 - November 16, 2020
Louis K. Mitchell, age 62, of Pewaukee, WI, passed away on Monday, November 16, 2020 at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee, WI.
He was born on March 23, 1958 in Stambaugh, MI, the son of Elvira (Franzoi) Mitchell and the late Keith Mitchell. He attended the West Iron County Schools, graduating from West Iron County High School with the Class of 1976. He then attended and graduated from Devry University in Chicago.
Louis married the former Diane Dobson on July 22, 1978 at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Caspian, MI. The couple celebrated their 42nd wedding anniversary this year.
He started his career at McDonnel Douglas Corporation in Missouri, where he worked on the space shuttle among other things. They then moved to Wisconsin where he was employed as a group leader at General Electric in the medical new products division. He retired after 30 years of service at the age of 60. Louis was a member of Queen of Apostles Church in Pewaukee.
He (Nature Boy as he was often called by his wife) loved being in the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He would often say standing in a stream, casting his line, with the water rushing around his legs, the smell and sound of nature, or sitting in his tree stand was what it was all about. He loved music of any kind, from Rock, Country, Classical or Jazz. Even Taylor Swift when he was alone. He loved spending time with family & friends, whether it be checking out the wings at a local restaurant or just visiting at each other’s homes. He was very proud of his daughter Megan and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and son in-law Chris. He could fix or build anything. He was often a resource for friends & family. His last project was building an addition on the family cabin with his friend Mark, getting assistance from other friends and family on the finishing touches. He was a wealth of information. He could talk on any subject or topic. Having the gift of gab, he would often entertain friends and family. Sometimes realizing he was wrong halfway through the conversation he would still persist on. As one friend said the conversations and topics were endless. What he didn’t know he would research.
Louis is survived by his wife, Diane; daughter, Megan (Christopher) Goetz of Hartford, WI; grandchildren, Jackson, Everly, and Kane Goetz; sister, Ann (Mark) Truax of Iron River, MI; and mother, Elvira Mitchell of Iron River, MI; brother in-laws, David, Michael & Glenn (Donna) Dobson, nephews, Adam (Jordan) Truax, Jake Dobson, Jeremy Dobson, nieces, Laura Truax, Laura (Wesley) Brinkley, Krista (David) Schindler, close cousins Bruno (Nancy) & Ray Margoni. As well as many great nieces and extended family and friends.
He was also preceded in death by his in-laws, Glenn and Dolores Dobson, Sr.
Private services will be held. A celebration of life will follow after COVID.
