Randy J. Ponozzo, age 56, of Iron River, passed away at Marquette General Hospital on June 29, 2013.
Randy was born November 30, 1956 in Stambaugh, MI, the son of Harvey and Elna (Norkoli) Ponozzo Sr. He attended the Iron River schools, graduating in 1975. He then attended Northern Michigan University. After earning his Bachelors Degree, he attended Soumi College and received his physical therapy assistant training. Randy has been employed at Northstar Health System as a physical therapy assistant for 20 years.
Randy married Sheri Olson on September 29, 1990 at the First Presbyterian Church in Iron River. The couple made their home in Iron River and celebrated their 22nd wedding anniversary in 2012.
Randy enjoyed spending time at Tamarack Lake, doing yard work, and making firewood. He loved his work and his Pontiac GTO.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Harvey Ponozzo Jr.
He is survived by his wife, Sheri of Iron River; his parents, Harvey and Elna Ponozzo, Sr.; brothers, Greg Ponozzo of DePere, WI and Dennis (Nancy) Ponozzo of Iron River; sisters, Cheryl (Larry) Smith of Iron Mountain, MI, and Bonnie Ponozzo of Green Bay, WI; his in-laws, William and Judy Olson; and nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Visitation will be held Friday, July 5, 2013 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Iron River.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, July 5, 2013 at 12:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dawn Treado-Green to officiate.
Interment will be in Resthaven Cemetery in Iron River.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Iron County Cancer Unit.
