About	Daily Herald: Gary L. Wood of Villa Park The funeral service for Mr. Gary L. Wood, 64, formerly of Lombard, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 4, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Ardmore at Washington Street, Villa Park, with Mr. Wood lying in state from 9 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will be in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, Ill. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 3, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. He died Monday, Feb. 1, 2010, at Hines VA Hospital, Hines, Ill. Mr. Wood was a resident of Villa Park and Lombard for most of his life. He was a 1963 graduate of Willowbrook High School and received his BA in political science from DePauw in Greencastle, Ind. Mr. Wood was a veteran, having served in the Army in Vietnam. Mr. Wood had owned Crum Letter Service in Elmhurst from 1976 to 1990. He was a member of the Villa Park Kiwanis for many years. Mr. Wood had been a member of the Lombard YMCA Indian Guide and Indian Princess program, having served as Nation Chief of the Indian Guides. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Villa Park for over 50 years. Mr. Wood had served as church treasurer and as a Sunday School teacher. He was an avid Chicago Bears fan. Mr. Wood is survived by his wife, Carol, nee Ramonda; sons, Todd (Lisa) of Elgin and Lee of Warrenville; daughter, Joy (Nic) Tosto of Warrenville; stepchildren, Paul Gildersleeve of Wisconsin, Daniel (Laura) Gildersleeve of Chicago, Timothy Gildersleeve of Villa Park and Diana Gildersleeve of Bensenville; grandchildren, Colin and Madelynn Wood, Dominic, Rory, Brie and Olivia Tosto; Cheyenne Jaworski and Luxe Mitchell; mother, Jean Nickolas of Texas; brother, Dr. Dale (Mertie) Wood, M.D. of Texas; niece, Andrea (Dr. Michael) Potter of Virginia; and his nephew, Eric (Casey) Wood of Colorado.
