Donnie Craft, whose full name is Donald Joseph Craft, was born on November 19, 1959, in Panama City, Florida. Craft is best recognized for his prominent career in American football as a running back. He spent his high school years honing his talents at A. Crawford Mosley High School in Lynn Haven, Florida - a nod to his roots.

From there, he advanced his football career at the college level, playing for the University of Louisville. His outstanding performance and skills earned him a spot in the 12th round of the 1982 NFL Draft, where he was selected by the Houston Oilers.
