Stryker Trahan (Class of 2012)

Baseball player Arizona Diamondbacks

What is Stryker Trahan (Class of 2012) known for?

Stryker Trahan is a professional baseball player, born on April 25, 1994 in Scott, Louisiana. Trahan is a proud product of Acadiana High School, where he displayed tremendous skill and potential that would later propel him into his professional career. As a student, he played for his school's baseball team, impressively maintaining a .460 batting average during his junior year and .384 as a senior. His remarkable performances earned him a place in the Class 5A All-State first team for both these years.

Aside from his prowess in baseball, Trahan was also talented in American football, playing for his school's team as a quarterback and tight end. His athletic versatility contributed to the team's state championship victory and he was honored as All-District quarterback in his senior year.

Trahan committed to the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) to play college baseball for the Ole Miss Rebels baseball team. However, his plans took a swift turn when he was selected by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the first round, with the 26th overall selection, of the 2012 Major League Baseball Draft. Trahan signed with the Diamondbacks instead of enrolling at Ole Miss, receiving a significant $1.7 million signing bonus.

Even though he started his career as a catcher, the Diamondbacks predicted a potential need to transition him to the outfield, which they did before the 2014 season. Trahan opened the season with the South Bend Silver Hawks of the Class A Midwest League. Despite striking out in 36% of his plate appearances, he kept pushing and ended up moving through various teams during 2015 and 2016.

Unfortunately, the Diamondbacks released Trahan in March 2017, but his baseball journey remains a source of pride for his alma mater and Scott, Louisiana community.

In his personal life, Trahan was named after the title character in B.L. Stryker. His parents, Donna and Chad, were both catchers for the Acadiana softball and baseball teams. Tragically, Donna passed away from liver cancer in April 2013. As of November 2015, Trahan is happily married.
