What is Art Long known for?

Art Long, born on October 1, 1972 in Rochester, New York, is an esteemed American former professional basketball player. Long's journey in basketball started from East High School in Rochester, NY, before he attended Dodge City Community College, Southeastern Community College, and the University of Cincinnati. Even though he went undrafted in the 1996 NBA, his talent did not go unnoticed. He was signed as a free agent by both the Portland Trail Blazers and the Sacramento Kings in 1999.

Long enjoyed a rich and diverse career, playing for numerous teams both domestically and internationally. He played for teams like Élan Béarnais Pau-Orthez, Jacksonville Barracudas, Quilmes de Mar del Plata, Idaho Stampede, and the Sacramento Kings among others. His career, which primarily saw him playing at the position of power forward, spanned from 1996 to 2010.

Of his 98 games in the NBA, he had the most successful run in the 2001-2002 season where he started 27 out of his 63 games with the Seattle SuperSonics. In the following 2002-03 season, he played 26 games shared between the Philadelphia 76ers and the Toronto Raptors.

Beyond the NBA, Long also enjoyed an illustrious career in international leagues. In 2000-2001, he played in France for ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne. His achievements include winning the Ukrainian League and Cup champion in 2006 and the French Cup champion in 2001.
