What is Torry Holt known for?

Torry Jabar Holt, born on June 5, 1976 in Gibsonville, North Carolina, is an esteemed American former football player celebrated for his exceptional talent as a wide receiver. He exhibited his athletic prowess from a young age, earning all-state honors and a Prep Football Report All-America selection at Eastern Guilford High School, Gibsonville. During his high school career, he accomplished a total of 2,573 yards and 42 touchdowns from 129 catches.

Post high school, he attended North Carolina State University, representing the NC State Wolfpack football team from 1995 to 1998. His outstanding performances earned him the titles of ACC Offensive Player of the Year and All-American in 1998. In his senior year, he set new ACC records.

Holt's professional football career kicked off in 1999 when he was drafted in the first round by the St. Louis Rams. He spent a decade, from 1999 to 2008, with the Rams, making a lasting impression and earning his place as one of the players in "The Greatest Show on Turf". He briefly played for the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2009 and was an offseason and/or practice squad member only for the New England Patriots in 2010.

His NFL career is marked by impressive stats and numerous accolades. Holt recorded a total of 920 receptions, 13,382 receiving yards, and 74 receiving touchdowns during his NFL career. Some of his major achievements include being a Super Bowl champion, seven-time Pro Bowl player, and a member of the NFL 2000s All-Decade Team. His immersive talent led to six consecutive seasons with over 1,300 yards, a record which led to his retirement with the 10th most receiving yards. Holt's contributions to the sport were further recognized when his No. 81 was retired by the NC State Wolfpack and his induction into the North Carolina Sports Hall of Fame.
