Status Change Class of 1959

Mrs. Ruth Ellen Houck, 72, of Walkersville, died Friday, February 14, 2014 at Frederick Memorial Hospital after an illness of four weeks. Born November 30, 1941 in Frederick County, she was the daughter of the late Franklin Thomas Weller and Eva Virginia Keller Weller. She was the wife of Gerald Lee Houck who died in 1988. Mrs. Houck was a 1959 graduate of Frederick High School. She and her husband were Holstein dairy farmers and she was later employed as a bookkeeper at the Frederick County Courthouse, retiring in 2007. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family. Surviving are a son, Kevin Lee Houck of Walkersville; 3 grandchildren, Bradley Travis Houck and wife Kami; Sarah Elizabeth Rill and husband Dustin Scott, and Dedra Margaret Houck, all of Taneytown; 3 great grandchildren, Skylar, Brayden and Addyson; 2 brothers, Franklin Weller of Frederick and Roy Weller and wife Dee Ann of Fayetteville, NC; 2 sisters-in-law, Mary Rhoderick and husband Paul and Mary Katherine Weller and 2 brothers-in-law, Raymond Houck and wife Joann and David Houck and wife Janet. She was preceded in death by brother, Fred Weller and sister-in-law, Ethel Anders Stambaugh. A funeral service will be held at Hartzler Funeral Home, 6 E. Broadway, Union Bridge at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 19, with Rev. Richard L. Michael, pastor of St. James Lutheran Church, Union Bridge, officiating. Interment will be in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, Uniontown. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, February 18. Mrs. Evelyn Looker

Evelyn Ogle Looker, 92, departed this life on Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2007, after a courageous battle with renal disease. Evelyn died peacefully at home in Glen Burnie surrounded by her family.
Evelyn was born January 2, 1915, in Frederick County, the daughter of the late Archie Willis Ogle and May R. Dixon Ogle. Evelyn was the wife of Edward Lee Looker Sr., who died in 1982.

Mrs. Looker was employed by the State of Maryland, Department of Corrections at the State Reformatory for Women in Jessup for over 30 years, retiring in 1977.

Surviving are daughters, Sharon Lee Lechowicz and husband, Albert; Linda Carol Hovatter and husband, Kent; Misty Lynn Looker and finance', Allen J. Tulkoff; and son, Edward Lee Looker Jr. and wife, Nancy. Also surviving is Evelyn's beloved grandson, David Christian Parr. A number of nieces and nephews, together with many loving friends, also mourn her loss.

Mrs. Looker was preceded in death by daughter, Sandra Kay Looker, her sisters, Marion Ogle Moser and Dorothy Ogle Bohler, and brothers, George William Ogle and Thomas Archie Ogle.

Evelyn's family will receive friends at Singleton Funeral and Cremation Serivces. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 19.
