Cynthia Toohey is a prominent figure who graced the hallways of Manhattan International High School in New York City, New York, before carving out a significant career in Alaska's political landscape. Born on April 16, 1934, in the bustling metropolis of New York City, she led an impactful life until her demise on January 29, 2021.

Following her graduation from high school in 1953, Toohey made a life-changing decision to move to Alaska in 1958. The city of Anchorage became her new home where she pursued a degree in nursing at the University of Alaska Anchorage. Her career as a registered nurse added another rich layer to her diverse professional life.
